Our Work

The Orpheus “Justo” Faison Memory Project

The Mixtape DJ Project is an initiative to address the undocumented, undervalued, and often overlooked history of mixtape djs. It combines oral history interviews, recordings, press clippings, photography, and more. This collaborative effort between mixtape collectors, scholars, curators, and djs introduces a range of user friendly search capabilities and analytic tools, that will offer a more in-depth look into the djs influence. Read more and find out how you can participate.

The Mixtape Collective is a group of avid mixtape collectors that share an appreciation for the history and artistic merit of mixtapes. The goal of the collective is to promote the Mixtape Museum’s interest in preserving, documenting and increasing recognition of mixtape culture. More information can be found here.

Mixtape Research Database (MXRD) is currently under development and houses classic mixtape titles, biographies, photographs, periodicals, and other historical data significant to mixtape culture. MXRD is primarily designed to support curatorial and research work.
