DJ Rock Jesus, Hampton, Va

My vivid mixtape memory is when I first heard Kid Capri do the blend with Stephanie Mills, “Something in the Way You Make Me Feel.” When I heard that blend I was like this is insane, but that wasn’t the word I used. Lol. The feeling was incredible.

I just loved the rawness of the mixtapes. It made me start doing them. The mixtapes also helped me do a lot of crate digging and searching for artists. I am now a gospel DJ and I am still doing mixtapes. I started DJ’ing in 1982 and I know mixtapes are very important to the culture. MIXTAPES WILL NEVER DIE! And Ron G, come on! There are so many things I can say, but I won’t keep going. Just know mixtapes have made a great impact on me still today.
